Course Description - “Applied Anatomy and Physiology for Thai Massage Therapists" goes beyond the western concepts and theories taught in massage schools.
This class includes attendence at a 4 hour cadaver lab at the Chiang Mai University Medical Center.
All students, with or without an education in anatomy and/or physiology should benefit from taking this course as it is uniquely oriented to Thai Massage and Asian concepts of the physical and energetic body. This program emphasizes many areas that are rarely taught in basic anatomy/physiology programs such as proper breathing techniques; how desired responses of the central nervous system are achieved, proprioception and its role in therapy, stretching, and recovery.
Substantial course material is dedicated to the Anatomy Trains concepts of Tom Myers; the work of Noam Tyroler on Thai energy concepts and treatment; and as well as the concept that myofascial energy lines are the missing link between western and eastern ideas of the body so clearly identified in the work of Dr. Ida Rolf, Tom Myers, Moshe Feldenkrais, Janet travel, Robert Melzak, Howard Evans and others.
