Applied Anatomy forTherapist with Cadaver Lab

Course Description - “Applied Anatomy and Physiology for Thai Massage Therapists" goes beyond the western concepts and theories taught in massage schools.

This class includes attendence at a 4 hour cadaver lab at the Chiang Mai University Medical Center.

All students, with or without an education in anatomy and/or physiology should benefit from taking this course as it is uniquely oriented to Thai Massage and Asian concepts of the physical and energetic body. This program emphasizes many areas that are rarely taught in basic anatomy/physiology programs such as proper breathing techniques; how desired responses of the central nervous system are achieved, proprioception and its role in therapy, stretching, and recovery. Substantial course material is dedicated to the Anatomy Trains concepts of Tom Myers; the work of Noam Tyroler on Thai energy concepts and treatment; and as well as the concept that myofascial energy lines are the missing link between western and eastern ideas of the body so clearly identified in the work of Dr. Ida Rolf, Tom Myers, Moshe Feldenkrais, Janet travel, Robert Melzak, Howard Evans and others.

This class also provides the option to attend a 4 hour cadaver lab at the Chiang Mai University Medical Center. Students who wish to particpate in a cadaver lab should choose the 20 hour option.

Foundation of Thai Massage (Level 1)

Course Description - Students learn the concept of initiating “Energy” movements through the body.  Meridians, main energy lines, pressure points, and various manifestations of the body’s physical, psychological and spiritual balance are all introduced.  Additional emphasis is placed on deeply focused abdominal work.

The students will be able to do a complete massage in the supine position.  After this course, students can give an effective 1 to 1 ½ hour massage treatment.

Intermediate Thai Massage (Level 2)

Course Description-  For the student who is interested in a more in-depth application of energetic systems, Intermediate Thai Massage is the next step. Deeper sensitivity and awareness combined with new theory and techniques using thumbs, palms, elbows, knees and feet create a dynamic application by the student. 

This course will continue to the remaining positions of Thai massage (side, prone and sitting positions). After completing Level 1 and 2, students will be able to give a full body 1 ½ to 3 hour massage treatment.

Course Description -  This course presents specific therapies for back, neck, leg and shoulder pain.  Advanced Thai massage postures and acupressure techniques are also practiced.  Sen lines and Meridians are elaborated and compared/contrasted.

Course Description - This course emphasizes joint mobilization and myofascial stretch techniques to increase range of motion, aid performance and assist in recovery.  This massage is a must for therapists whose clients include athletes, dancers and other people who want their bodies to achieve maximum performance.  Students in this course will learn a 1hour Thai massage routine that they can use in their practice. One of the unique characteristics of this massage is a focus on protecting the therapist by using techniques that do not require use of the thumbs. 

This two day course is designed for therapists who have some experience in Thai Massage. A four day course is also available for therapists or others with no experience with Thai Massage.

Oriental Oil Massage

Course Description - Oriental Oil Massage is a combination of Balinese and Thai Massage. Students learn how to combine the best of these techniques. Thai massage techniques of stretching, palming and specific energy line work are used to open and balance the body. Balinese massage techniques based on Indian Ayurvedic medicine and the application of oil are used to relax and continue balancing the physical and energetic body.

This is a good course for therapists who want to learn Asian techniques that they can utilize in western massage such as Swedish.

Course Description - Students in this course will learn to perform a 15-45 minute massage with the client sitting in a chair. Techniques for the head, neck, back, arms and hands are taught.  Specific acupressure points to relieve headache, neck and back tension are also covered.  Thai and Indian Head massage techniques are combined in this course.

Course Description - Students learn how reflex points relate to organs and energetic systems of the body.
